MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Maria Torres and Franziska Bremm both fired rounds of 73 and finished inside the top-10, as the UWG women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon with a final round 312.

 

Both Torres and Bremm paced the Wolves on the final day with both playing solid rounds. Torres began the day with back-to-back bogeys on holes five and six, and made the turn at two over, but erased those with a one-under back nine including back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13.

 

Bremm made a birdie and a bogey on the front side, and one lone bogey on the back to finish with the 73. Bremm finishes in a fourth place tie while Torres finished in sixth place.

 

Layne Carter shot her second consecutive round of 79 on Tuesday, finishing with a 158 total and a 30th place tie. It was a tough day for Jordan Daniel as the junior finished with an 87 and in a 52nd place tie.

 

Wingate took the team title with rounds of 303 and 308, besting Lenoir-Rhyne by one stroke.

 

West Georgia’s next action is set for October 16-17 at the Saint Leo Invitational in Dade City, Fla.
