Columbus, GA - It was a marathon game for the Wolves on Thursday as UWG picked up their fourth win of the season with a 13-6 win in twelve innings against the Columbus State Cougars.

The bats were quiet for West Georgia and Columbus State early as the two teams combined for two hits through the first two innings. UWG broke through in the third with four runs in the frame.

NJ Williamson led off the inning with a single followed by a walk from Brady Barnes. Ben Utley then singled, scoring Williamson for the first run of the game. Two runs then scored on an error from Columbus State, followed by a run scored on a ground ball from Cade Marlowe giving UWG a 4-0 lead through three innings.

Greyson McLeod was in control for the first six innings of the game, giving up only one unearned run and striking out three. He ran into trouble in the seventh, hitting the leadoff man and giving up a single to the next batter.

Dalton Reagin came in to relieve McLeoad in the seventh. He hit a batter to load the bases with no outs. The Cougars capitalized by picking up three runs in the inning, tying the game at 4-4 headed to the seventh inning.

From there it was a pitching duel as the Wolves and the Cougars stayed even at 4-4 until the top of the twelfth inning. In the top of the twelfth the Wolves scored the go ahead run on a throwing error by Columbus State. UWG would then go on an offensive explosion, scoring nine runs in the inning on seven hits to go ahead 13-4.

The Cougars added two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, but UWG got the win with a final of 13-6.
Ben Utley went 3-5 on the day with a run scored and an RBI. Artemis Kadkhodain led UWG with three RBI. Ryan Raper ended the day 4-6 with two RBI and two runs scored. UWG totaled 14 hits on the day.

Mitchell Mannino picked up the win on the day. He is now 2-0 on the year. Greyson McLeod pitched six innings on the day, giving up only two earned runs.

UWG now heads to Augusta to take on the Augusta Jaguars in a two game series. They play Saturday 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 p.m. Live stat links are available on
