CARROLLTON, Ga. - It was a Saturday split for the UWG baseball team as the Wolves dropped game one of this weekend's Gulf South Conference series with Lee by a 7-6 final before an 8-0 win in game two on the back of an outstanding pitching performance from senior Ryan Sapp.

Game One
West Georgia dug themselves a 3-0 deficit early as the Flames scored a single run in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Wolves got on the board in the fourth as Artemis Kadkhodaian led off with a single and then scored from first as Christopher Michals ripped an RBI triple down the line.

The Flames knocked UWG starter Greyson McLeod out of the game in the fifth with a three spot in the frame off of a three-run homer to left field by Nathan Weirzgac.

In the bottom half, UWG added three of their own as NJ Williamson roped a one-out single and then scored from second after an error by Lee's left fielder. Michals then drove in his second and third runs of the game with a single to cut the Lee lead to 6-4.

Lee added an important insurance run in the seventh, and they would need it as Price Peters made it a one-run game with a homerun that dented the Cole Field scoreboard.

In the ninth, UWG got the leadoff man on board, but could not push across the tying run.

Dalton Reagin pitched well in relief, throwing 4.2 innings and allowing just one unearned run on six hits.

Offensively, Michals was 3-for-5 with three RBI while Peters finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 with the homer and a pair of RBI.

Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader was all West Georgia as the Wolves cruised to an 8-0 victory on the back of Ryan Sapp's effort on the mound. The senior turned in an outstanding performance pitching a complete game, two-hit shutout, earning the win. Sapp had a perfect game going through five innings before giving up a ground ball single through the left side.

West Georgia got off to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first as Drew Eady Reached on an error, got to second on a balk, and moved to third on a Michals single. A passed ball then allowed Eady to score and with Michals moving on the play, he took third. Michals then scored on a ground ball out as Peters picked up the RBI.

The Wolves got two more in the third as Ben Utley drove in Eady on a sac fly and Cade Marlowe doubled in Michals for the fourth run.
Ben Utley scored the fifth run of the game as the junior reached on a single and scored on a Ryan Raper single.

UWG got three runs just for good measure in the sixth as Kadkhodaian led off with a double and scored on a groundout with Eady picking up an RBI. Tyler Garner and Chris Michals would come around to score on wild pitches later in the inning.

Michals and Marlowe eached picked up two hits in game two.
