Rome, GA - On Saturday afternoon the West Georgia Wolves split a Gulf South Conference series with the Shorter Hawks in Rome, GA. UWG won game one 12-7 before dropping game two 7-4.

Game One
West Georgia began the game the game the way they had hoped, taking an early lead. Bradley Felkel walked with one out in the second inning. Artemis Kadkhodaian then doubled to put runners on second and third. A Shorter error allowed Felkel to score and UWG took a 1-0 lead in the second.

The score would stay the same until the top of the fifth inning. UWG loaded the bases and Ben Utley came through with a two out single to score two more runs, giving UWG a 3-0 lead.

Freshman Ryan Parker took a no-hitter into the bottom of the sixth inning, but then ran into trouble. The Hawks used three hits, including a homerun, to take a 4-3 lead over the Wolves. That was the end of the day for Parker as Tyler Garner came in to finish the inning.

West Georgia would respond in a big way by scoring four runs of their own to retake the lead 7-4. Ryan Raper drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Bradley Felkel, Artemis Kadkhodaian, and Cade Marlowe each drove in a single run to push the other three runs across the plate.

The Wolves finally broke open the game in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs on three hits, including a Cade Marlowe grand slam, to push the lead to 12-4. Shorter added two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to make the score 12-6.

Shorter would add a single run in the ninth, making the final from game one 12-7 Wolves. Ben Utley and Cade Marlowe each had two hits and three RBI. Tyler Garner picked up the win for UWG.

Game Two
Shorter started the scoring in game two, picking up two runs in the bottom of the first to grab an early lead. The Hawks then added five more runs in the second inning to push the Shorter lead to 7-0.

West Georgia fought back in the top of third, getting two on with no outs to begin the frame. Ben Utley then doubled, scoring the first UWG run. Bradley Felkel then drove in a run to make it a 7-2 game. Artemis Kadkhodaian then drove in Utley to cut the deficit to four.

Bradley Felkel hit a solo homerun in the top of the seventh making the final score 7-4 with Shorter on top. Bradley Felkel went 2-4 with two RBI for the Wolves. C.J. Fehribach was outstanding out of the bullpen, throwing 4.2 innings and giving up only one earned run.
