Carrollton, GA - It was a Saturday split for West Georgia as the Wolves picked up one of two possible Gulf South Conference wins against the Christian Brothers Buccaneers on a sunny day at Carrollton High School.

Game One
The game started out well for UWG as Drew Eady led off with a single to left field. A hit by pitch and walk then loaded the bases for the Wolves with no one out. Ben Utley then drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly. Ryan Raper singled through the right side to drive in two more runs, followed by a Lane Griffith single to make it 4-0 UWG lead after one inning.

That would end the scoring for either team until the bottom of the fifth as Ryan Raper drove in his third run of the game to give UWG a 5-0 lead. Christian Brothers used a hit and a West Georgia error in the top of the sixth to score their first run of the game.

In the bottom of the seventh inning the Wolves used a leadoff double and two singles to make it a 6-1 lead. Bradley Felkel then scored on a wild pitch to push the West Georgia lead to 7-1.

That would be the final score from game one as UWG picked up the win. Ryan Parker was outstanding for UWG, giving up only one unearned run over eight innings pitched with five strikeouts.

Drew Eady, Bradley Felkel, and Christopher Michals each had two hits for the Wolves in game one. Ryan Raper had a hit and three RBI for UWG and Ben Utley added two RBI.

Game Two
Christian Brothers struck first in game two, picking up a single run in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead. West Georgia responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly from Cade Marlowe to tie the game at 1-1.

Christian Brothers regained the lead in the top of the third, scoring a single run on a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-1 game. West Georgia again responded, this time taking the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. After a Bradley Felkel walk, Ben Utley tripled to drive him in and tie the game. Artemis Kadkhodaian then doubled, giving UWG the 3-2 lead.

Christians Brothers picked up the tying run in the top of the seventh, making it a 3-3 game headed to the bottom of the seventh. The Bucs then added a single run in the top of the eighth to take a 4-3 lead. The Wolves were unable to score in the bottom of the inning and fell to the Bucs 4-3.

Ryan Sapp had a great day on the mound. The senior threw 6.1 innings, giving up only three runs while striking out four.
