CARROLLTON, Ga. – The West Georgia Wolves held off a major late charge from the West Alabama Tigers on Saturday evening in Livingston, Ala., taking an 85-82 victory in Pruitt Hall to move to 13-13 on the year and 8-11 in Gulf South Conference play.

For the first 10 minutes of the contest at Pruitt Hall on Saturday evening, the West Georgia Wolves struggled to find their offense, falling behind by a 16-7 score during that span. But over the next minute, a 9-0 run tied the game, spurred by Marquill Smith and Vinko Glavan, who combined for 12 points in the first 11 minutes of the contest.

Glavan continued to have a strong first half, reaching 10 points in the period when he hit a layup to cut the West Alabama lead back to 26-25 with 5:22 left in the period. Over the next two minutes, the contest was a see-saw battle, as the two teams exchanged the lead on four-straight possessions before a missed three-pointer from the Tigers allowed for an Ovie Magbegor layup that gave the Wolves a 31-28 lead with 3:21 left in the half.\

Over the final three minutes of the period, the lead for UWG would stay right there, as West Georgia would go into the locker room at the break with a 38-35 lead. Glavan and Magbegor combined for 18 points in the period to lead the way for the Wolves.

Early in the second half, West Georgia began to pull away with William Sides leading the way. Sides scored nine points in the first 12 minutes of the second half, as the Wolves took a 69-53 lead in that span. West Alabama, at that point, began to mount a comeback, outscoring the Wolves 24-11 over the next six minutes, pulling to within three points at 80-77 with 2:10 left in the game.

In the final 30 seconds, things were crazy from Pruitt Hall, but the Wolves maintained that three-point lead and a steal from Marquill Smith with one second left in the game sealed the victory for the Wolves.

William Sides led the Wolves in the game with 26 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 performance at the free-throw line and he threw in six assists for good measure. Smith was second with 18 points, followed by Glavan with 12 and Robinson with 10. Aren Ulmer and Glavan each had six rebounds in the game to lead the squad.

West Georgia will complete the regular season next Thursday at 9 p.m., facing off with the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks in Auburn, Ala.
