Carrollton, GA – Despite dropping two-of-three in last week’s series vs. number one ranked Delta State, the UWG Wolves took a step forward in this week’s national rankings.

UWG moved to the 18th spot in the weekly Division II poll by Collegiate Baseball Newspapers. The Wolves debuted at the number 20 spot in last week’s first poll of the regular season.

Though they dropped two in the series with Delta State, the Wolves came out of the series with momentum. Saturday’s dramatic, 10-8, come from behind win over DSU pushed West Georgia’s record to 15-5 on the season, and 5-4 in the Gulf South Conference. The loss was Delta State’s first in league play this season, and halted the Statesmen’s 16-game winning streak.

UWG returns to action Wednesday with a major challenge staring them in the face. The Wolves host fifth ranked Columbus State (17-2) in the 4 p.m. contest at Cole Field. GSC play resumes this weekend when UWG travels to Rome for a three-game series vs. Shorter.
