CARROLLTON, Ga. – On Wednesday, freshman shortstop Alley Taylor added another award to her stellar resume after one season in Carrollton, as the Coral Springs, Florida native was named NFCA First Team All-South Region.

Taylor, who was also named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year and First Team All-GSC earlier this month became the second player to hit over .400 in a season as she hit .401 as a freshman in 2018.

Her average led the team and ranked 11th in the GSC. Taylor was second on UWG’s squad with a 19 extra-base hits, going for 12 doubles, a pair of triples, and five home runs, which is also second on the team. Taylor was a key part of the offense not only with her bat, but her abilities on the base paths. She stole 33 bases in 37 attempts this season, setting a single-season school record.

Taylor becomes the first NFCA All-Region player under Al Thomas at UWG. With a First Team nod, becomes eligible for NFCA All-America honors.
