CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG women’s basketball team fell to the West Florida Argonauts by a 76-69 final on Saturday afternoon at The Coliseum.


How It Happened

- In the early part of the game, it was a back and forth affair with both offenses starting out hot. The Argos led by as much as five in the opening quarter but took a 21-17 lead into the second quarter.

- Led by 16 first half points from Halee Nieman, the Argos stretched their lead to double-digits in the second quarter, but the Wolves were able to cut it down to eight by the halftime break, trailing 41-33.

- Kilah Nixon, who finished with a career-high in points, hit a three-pointer with 6:57 to go in the third that got the Wolves within one at 44-43, but after that point Nieman took over for UWF, scoring 10 points in the final seven minutes of the quarter to put the Argos up eight with a quarter to play.

- The Argos opened the fourth on a 7-1 run to extend their advantage to 14, but the Wolves responded with an 8-0 run with less than three minutes remaining to get within four, but that’s as close as UWG would come to tying or regaining the lead.


Top Performers

- Senior guard Kilah Nixon led West Georgia offensively with 21 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the three-point line.

- Fellow seniors Aysha Harris and Jessica Brown also scored in double-figures with Harris finishing with 17 while Brown chipped in with 12.

- Harris just missed a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds and also led in assists with six.

- Nieman finished with a game-high 30 with five triples for UWF. She also led the Argos in rebounds with nine.


The Records

- The Wolves are now 12-9 overall and 7-8 in the GSC while UWF wins their ninth straight game to improve to 19-4 overall and 13-3 in the league.
