EMERSON, Ga. – The West Georgia track and field team competed in their second and final indoor meet of the season on Thursday at the Dunamis Super Meet in Emerson, Georgia.
The Wolves had one last indoor tune-up before the official start of outdoor season in two weeks in Columbus. UWG competed against Division I and II competition at Thursday’s meet.
Paige Peterson headlined the day with a third place finish in the triple jump, jumping a distance of 11.44m and setting a new indoor school record in the event. Andrea Foster finished sixth with a jump of 10.95m.
Freshman Alexis Alofuokhai placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.44m.
In the long jump, Trisan Haughton jumped 4.95m on her way to an eighth place finish, while Rolayo Roberts and Kennedy Davis came in 13th and 14th place for the Wolves.
In the pole vault, Faith Moss finished with a jump of 2.6m, placing fifth. For Paige Berriochoa, her jump of 2.45m was good for an eighth place finish.
Nya Moses placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.40m while Caitlin Teknipp and Hannah West placed 12th and 14th respectively.
Moses then went on to place fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.00m. Teknipp’s throw of 11.45m put the senior in 10th place.
Dawn McCaskill and Rolayo Roberts finished 12th and 13th respectively in the 60m dash, both posting times of 7.99, and separated by just one-thousandth of a second. Makalah Cannon was in 16th with a time of 8.08.
Dawn McCaskill was just shy of qualifying for the 200m, but Ashley Davis’ time of 25.58 put her in the finals in her second meet of the season, however she did not compete in the finals.
Emani Collins just missed on qualifying for the finals in the 400m dash, placing one spot out of the qualifiers in seventh with a time of 1:01.88.
Alexis Smith was the only UWG runner to compete in the 300m, and finished in seventh place in the with a time of 12:24.85. McKenzie Morse finished 11th in the one-mile run, with a final time of 6:12.47.
Freshman Kennedy Davis was the only UWG runner to advance to the finals of the 60m hurdles, finishing eighth with a time of 10.14.
The Wolves will open the outdoor championship season in Columbus, Georgia at the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, February 24th.
