CARROLLTON, Ga. - With the open of official practice for the 2018 volleyball season less than two months away, University of West Georgia head volleyball coach Jon Moseley announced his first recruiting class this week, as he will add eight players to the roster for the coming season.

This year's recruiting class includes five freshmen, two transfers and one player who was on campus at West Georgia during the 2017-18 academic year. The newest Wolves come from three different states and one is an international student. Four of the newcomers are from the state of Georgia, two are from Tallahassee, Fla., one comes from Brazil and another is from Alabama. 

"We are very pleased to welcome eight outstanding newcomers to the West Georgia volleyball program in 2018," said Moseley. "They are all winners who have had outstanding training in their high school and club programs.  It is also evident that they have had great training at home, and they will be excellent students and representatives for our program and for the university."

"Anna started for three years at outside hitter at Dalton State before they dropped their program.  She could play as a hitter for us, but the areas that we feel she will help the most are in serve-receive passing, defense, and leadership.  We feel very fortunate to add a player with Anna’s combination of skills and maturity, and we expect her to immediately make us a better team."

Solid hitter joining the Wolves for the 2018 season ... prepped at West Morgan High School under head coach Alesha Hutto and transfers to UWG from Shorter University as a junior ... played in 87 sets for the Hawks in 2017, starting in 20 matches ... picked up 113 kills, 51 digs and 46 blocks for the Hawks last season. High School: led her team to the Alabama 3A semifinals in all four years of high school ... won the Morgan County Tournament and the Area Tournament in 2015 ... Named 3A Area 15 MVP in 2015, All-Area team, Decatur Daily 1st Team All-Area in 2015, Huntsville Times 1st Team North Alabama in 2015, 3A Area 15 All-Area team in 2014 ... also played basketball for West Morgan ... scored 1,000 points in her basketball career and was a First Team All-County honoree in 2014 and 2015 ... majoring in Biology ... daughter of Joseph and Cynthia Flack.

"Hannah is a transfer who played for me at Shorter.  She started for two years on teams that won a total of 28 Gulf South Conference matches.  Hannah will redshirt in 2018, but she will have an impact on our team in practice.  She has the ability to be a terminal hitter who is also low-error.  Hannah will contribute defensively as well due to her imposing block."
