CARROLLTON, Ga. - University of West Georgia head football coach David Dean accepted a commitment letter from 10-year old Colin Depriest this week, as Depriest officially became a member of the UWG football program at a signing ceremony on Monday.

Depriest, of Newnan, Georgia, became the newest member of the West Georgia football team during an inspirational Team IMPACT Signing Day celebration, sponsored by Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He is one of 30,000 patients in the United States living courageously with cystic fibrosis (CF), a disease predominantly diagnosed in children by the age of 2. By sponsoring Draft Days of children with CF, Vertex Pharmaceuticals helps spread awareness for the disease—and the life-long, positive effects Team IMPACT has on these children.

Joining Dean and Depriest at the Team IMPACT Signing Day Celebration were members of Colin's family and three of the 2018 UWG football captains: Devontae Jackson, Chad Price, and Willie Candler. Colin was also an honorary captain for the Wolves this past Saturday, as West Georgia beat Catawba 34-3 in the 2018 season opener.

"Colin was definitely our good-luck charm on Saturday," Jackson said. "We were so excited to meet him, and I'm even more excited that he is now officially a part of our team."
