CALERA, Ala. – It turned out to be a solid start to the 2018-19 golf seasons for the UWG women’s golf team as the Wolves finished second at the Full Moon Invitational while Franziska Bremm took home individual medalist honors at Timberline Golf Club in Calera, Alabama.

 

As a team, the Wolves finished second and 11 strokes behind North Georgia with a final round 313, but it was Franziska Bremm who stole the headlines with a second consecutive round of 68 to finish with a six-under total of 136. It’s the eighth career win for Franziska Bremm who continues to add to her already impressive career.

 

It was a 14th place tie for Layne Marie Carter who finished with a final round 78 on Tuesday. Michelle Bagsic wrapped up her frst tourney for UWG with a 76, drastically improving on her 15-over round on Monday. She tied for 22nd with teammate Jasmine Yi who shot back-to-back rounds of 81 in her first collegiate action.

 

Ari Samuel finished with an 84 on Tuesday and concluded the event in 30th place. Stephania Vargas finished with a 92 on Tuesday and placed 38th.

 

“I’m very proud of Fran today, and how she started off her senior campaign,” said head coach Todd Selders, “As a team I was glad to see us hang in there and finish runner-up. It’s always good when you can bring home some hardware.”

 

UWG’s next action is set for September 22-23 in Hilton Head, South Carolina as the Wolves compete in the Battle at Old South.
