CARROLLTON, Ga. - One day after cracking the top-10 in the AFCA National Top-25, the West Georgia Wolves moved up two spots in the weekly D2Football.com poll, jumping to No. 13 in this week's media rankings.

The Wolves (2-0) opened the 2018 season with a preseason ranking of 21 in the D2Football.com poll, then jumped six spots to 15 in the first regular season poll after a 34-3 victory over Catawba. This past week, the Wolves blasted Limestone 42-14 and continued to climb in the weekly media poll with the 13th-place spot in this week's ranking.

"The rankings are a good thing for our kids to get recognition for the hard work they put in day-in and day-out," said head coach David Dean. "But we still have a lot of football and some very good teams left on our schedule, so that hard work must continue for our success to be sustained."

West Georgia is one of three Gulf South Conference teams in the rankings this week. West Florida suffered a loss at the hands of now sixth-ranked Midwestern State, as the Argos fell from third in the nation to 11th in this week's media poll. West Alabama jumped two spots to eighth with a double-digit win over Miles College this past weekend.

West Alabama is the highest-rated of the three schools in both polls this week, sitting in eighth in the AFCA Top-25 and the D2Football.com poll. West Georgia was ranked 10th in the AFCA poll Monday before Tuesday rankings. West Florida checks in a 11th in the D2Football.com poll and 13th in the coaches' poll.

The Wolves will be on the road for the first time this season on Saturday, taking on the Albany State Golden Rams in the final non-conference matchup of the regular season. Kickoff for that contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Albany State Coliseum.
