CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the second time in as many months, UWG freshman golfer Lucas Mota has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Month after a solid October in the red and blue.

 

In six round over two tournaments, the Barcelona native averaged 72.3 including two rounds 69. In Mota’s first tournament of October, the UNG Fall Invitational, he finished with a one-under-par total to finish 13th. Later that month, Mota finished tied for 27th at the Matt Dyas Invitational with a three-over total of 219.

 

Mota was also the GSC’s Freshman of the Month for September and is averaging 71.36 through four total tournaments this fall.

 

The Wolves will need Mota to continue his solid freshman season in the spring as the Wolves compete in their championship season. West Georgia men’s golf opens the spring at the end of February as the Wolves compete at Georgia Southwestern on February 26-27.
