ROME, Ga. – Track and Field had a strong performance at Berry College over the weekend. With 106.5 points, the Wolves took second place to a highly competitive Emory team. Shorter Hawks, a Gulf South Conference competitor, was 29 points behind with only 77 points overall.
Here is the breakdown for the Wolves:
On Friday, Tyra Babbs had a huge throw in the hammer earning her seventh place with a new personal record of 41.15m. The Wolves racked up points in the shot put on Saturday with Brandi Boddy leading the pack. Boddy set a new school record of 12.35m for first place. Ravae Cox took second place in the shot put at 12.13m.
Ashley Davis has made a comeback for third place in the 200m dash in 24.92 for her season best. Both teams for UWG scored in the 4x100m relay. The A team (Makalah Cannon, Rickia Stafford, Dawn McCaskill, and Rolayo Roberts) placed fourth in 49.26 while the B team (Tora Wright, Maniyah Thomas, Meghan Daniels, and
Amina Saunders lead the Wolves in the 100m hurdles for second place in 14.66. Malaya Miles ran a 16.18 for seventh place and a new season best. Saunders also took fourth in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.28.
Marion Bartilol placed sixth in the 5000m race in 19:30 for a new season best.
The Wolves will be at the Georgia Tech Invitational next weekend for those athletes who meet qualifying marks.
