MOBILE, Ala. – The first round is in the books at the 2019 Gulf South Conference Championships and Franzsika Bremm and the Wolves are in fourth place at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove.


Bremm fired an opening round 77 to lead the Wolves’ 327 on Sunday. Bremm was two-under through five, but struggled with a pair of double bogeys on the back nine and finished with the six over total. Bremm is within striking distance as she is five shots back of Haverly Harrold of Lee and tied for fifth.


Behind Bremm was a pair of 82s from Ari Samuel and Stephania Vargas. Both Samuel and Vargas made one birdie on the day, and begin Monday’s second round in a 16th place tie.


Layne Marie Carter ended day one with an 86, making just one birdie and five pars on the day. Carter is in a 25th place tie.


Freshman Jasmine Yi was the only UWG golfer without a birdie on her card on Sunday as she shot an 87 in the opening round and is tied for 30th place heading into tomorrow’s second round.


Lee leads the tournament after 18 holes, shooting a 310 in today’s first round. The Flames are six shots ahead of West Florida.


The second round begins tomorrow morning from the Falls Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama.
