MOBILE, Ala. – The UWG men’s golf team shot a 300 in Monday’s second round of the Gulf South Conference Championships at the RTJ Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama.
Senior Sam Jones propelled himself into the top-10 with a one-over round of 73 on Tuesday, putting him in a tie for seventh. Jones went out and birdies his second hole, but made two bogeys to make the turn at one over. He then birdied the 10th to get to even, but made bogey at the 16th.
After a second round 76, freshman Rece Moore finds himself in a 15th place tie. Moore made two birdies and six bogeys on the day. Just behind Moore is Lucas Mota who made 15 pars and three bogeys on Tuesday to finish with a three-over 75. Mota is in an 18th place tie.
Ethan Jones led the Wolves with three birdies in the second round, but was plagued by a double bogey on number five, and finished with a four over total of 76 in the second round, and is in a tie for 20th with 18 holes to play.
It was a second round 82 for freshman Blake Kollin who struggled with three double bogeys on the afternoon and is in a 40th place tie.
As a team, the Wolves are tied for fifth with Delta State. The West Florida Argonauts will enter tomorrow’s final round with a 12-shot lead.
