CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the second consecutive week, UWG middle hitter Tierra White has been selected as the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week.
White is the only freshman in the Gulf South Conference thus far this season to earn more than one Freshman of the Week honor, and this week's award marks her third of the year. She was named Freshman of the Week on September 10, then again last week on October 1 and now she has received this week's award.
Facing some of the toughest competition of the year thus far this past week, White was stellar, producing 58 total points for the Wolves en route to a 2-1 week against three opponents with a combined record of 30-11. Against Augusta, White had her best overall performance, collecting 17 kills with just four errors for a .481 hitting percentage. Against West Florida, she had 20 kills, her second-highest total of the year.
In addition to a solid hitting week, White was stellar on the block with 12 on the week. Her best night at the net came against West Florida, where she had six total blocks, including three solo.
For the season, White is among the leaders in the GSC in kills per set, averaging 3.33, and she leads the Gulf South Conference in hitting percentage at .398. West Georgia will be on the road this weekend, taking on West Alabama on Friday and Mississippi College on Saturday.
