CARROLLTON, Ga. - Another first will happen on Saturday at The Coliseum, as the first volleyball match featuring a ranked West Georgia team will take place on the floor at noon as the Wolves take on Valdosta State in Gulf South Conference action. 

Head coach Jon Moseley and his Wolves will have plenty to play for on Saturday after Wednesday's first NCAA South Region were released with West Georgia sitting in the 10th spot, marking the first regional ranking ever for a West Georgia volleyball team. The Wolves are currently 15-10 on the year with a 15-9 record in South Region play and UWG is 9-3 against Gulf South Conference competition. 

Two other GSC schools were ranked in Wednesday's poll, with West Florida coming in at 6th and Alabama Huntsville at 7th. Defending national champion Tampa topped the ranking, followed by Lynn, Embry-Riddle, Barry, and Saint Leo to round out the top-five. After UWF and UAH, Eckerd checks in at 8th and Palm Beach Atlantic was 9th. West Georgia has played eight ranked opponents thus far on the season with the biggest win against those teams as a 3-2 victory over Eckerd at the South Region Crossover. 

West Georgia will be on the floor on Saturday at noon, taking on the Valdosta State Blazers in Gulf South Conference volleyball action.
