CARROLLTON, Ga.  – Sunday will wrap up the non-conference schedule for UWG soccer as the Wolves play host to the Georgia College Bobcats in a 1 p.m. kickoff from University Field.

The Wolves enter the weekend at 2-2 overall after last weekend’s 1-1 showing at the Bobcat Shootout. It’s the second home game of the season for West Georgia. The lone home match of the year was a 2-0 loss to North Georgia.

As previously stated, UWG went 1-1 last weekend at the Bobcat Shootout, defeating Embry-Riddle 3-2 before a heart breaking 1-0 loss to 14th-ranked Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. The win over the Eagles marked the first win over a Sunshine State Conference opponent since 2011 when the Wolves defeated Eckerd, 3-0. Three different players scored goals in last Friday’s win, with Sadie Prince, Janaisia Smith, and Hillary Resendiz each scoring their first goal of the season.

West Georgia’s junior goal keeper Jackie Donaldson began the season with 191 career saves, and after 12 in the first two games combined in 2019, she became the third UWG keeper in school history with at least 200 career saves. The Woodstock native enters Sunday’s game with 217 saves in her career and is 56 saves away from moving into second all-time.

The Wolves have scored five goals this season and all five have been scored by different players. Of those five, one is a defender, two are midfielders, and two are defenders. Junior defender Tyler Buford leads the team in points with one goal and one assist on the season with both of those coming in the season-opening win at Young Harris.

The Bobcats enter the weekend at 1-4 overall after defeating North Greenville on Wednesday night at home. Like the Wolves, the Bobcats have scored five goals, but a pair of Bobcats have two goals each in Cassie Balzano and Alyssa Bergamini. Kia Jie Jacobs is the other goal scorer. Georgia College has been led between the posts by Kate Richardson who has allowed eight goals and made 17 saves. Backup keeper Haley Titus has also seen time in goal, playing in one game and making three saves.

Kickoff for Sunday’s game is set for 1 p.m. from University Field. Live stats and live video will be available.
