Foster, Haughton and Saunders earn All-Region Honors

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Three Wolves were recently honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as Andrea Foster, Trisan Haughton, and Amina Saunders earned All-Region honors in their respective events.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the regions' top-3 relay teams.

Haughton, a junior from Decatur excels in jumps for the Wolves and was named Field MVP by her teammates. Haughton earned All-Region honors in the high jump. Haughton was the bronze medalist in the high jump at the GSC Championships and currently holds the school record in the high jump with a 1.56m jump.

Amina Saunders was the Wolves Track MVP on the season and was outstanding in multiple events this spring. Saunders earns All-Region honors in the 400m hurdles where she owns a school record with a time of 1:01.31. Saunders was a second team All-GSC performer in the 400m hurdles, finishing second in the GSC CHampionships with a time of 1:03.77.

Andrea Foster earned the All-Region distinction in the heptathlon where she finished fourth in the league in that event.

"I am very proud of these three young ladies and Coach Tony Hawkins for the tremendous dedication and relentless desire to achieve this accomplishment," said head coach Tim Brooks.

West Georgia track and field now has 14 athletes to be named All-Region in three seasons since the sport became officially sponsored at UWG.
