CARROLLTON, Ga. - As has been the case for much of the week for any athletic events in the state of Georgia, the final Gulf South Conference tennis match of the year for the West Georgia Wolves and Shorter Hawks was moved from Rome to Carrollton this afternoon. The Hawks took the match, winning 6-1 over the Wolves. 

The lone match win for the Wolves on the day came from No. 3 doubles, where Shelby Brown and Meg Cummings took down Shorter's Monika Gredzinski and Sadie Westberry with an 8-4 result. In singles play, Gredzinski returned the favor, dispatching Brown by a 6-0, 6-0 count. As the match ended, Gabby Chanthaphaeng at No. 3 singles and Jamie Bryant at No. 6 singles each were leading. 

Sara Watson and Sierra Brown put up a fight in No. 2 doubles, falling 8-4 in that match to Julie Rinderknech and Melinda Chrun. Watson lost 6-3, 6-1 to Aleksandra Durzynski in No. 2 singles and Brown fell by a 6-3, 6-3 total to Rinderknech. In No. 1 singles, Jordan England lost 6-0, 6-2, and she and partner Gabby Chanthaphaeng lost 8-0 in No. 1 doubles. 

West Georgia falls to 4-11 on the year and 0-10 in Gulf South Conference play. Four matches remain in the season, beginning with Oxford-Emory University on Saturday, and the final home match of the year will be on Sunday against Fort Valley State.
