CARROLLTON, Ga. – Saturday basketball is back in The Coliseum this weekend as the UWG women’s basketball team hosts Montevallo in a 2 p.m. Gulf South Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

 

The Wolves will look to get back in the win column after dropping their third straight game on Thursday night against West Alabama. Montevallo comes into Saturday’s game losing 15 straight and sits at 2-18 overall and 0-12 in the league.

 

Aysha Harris led the Wolves with 13 points in Thursday’s loss to West Alabama and was joined by Jessica Brown in double-figures with 12. Harris got four steals on the night and continues to lead the league in steals per game, and ranks fourth in the nation.

 

The Falcons are led by Jomekia Morine who averages 10.1 points per game while Kiya Sain is Montevallo’s leading rebounder, averaging 5.1 per game. UM is coming off of a 49-40 loss to Auburn-Montgomery on the road. The Falcons are last in the league in scoring margin, scoring on average 20.2 points less per game than their opponents.

 

West Georgia leads the all-time series with the Falcons, 23-14, but lost the last meeting 62-58 in 2013. Coach Scott Groninger is 2-2 all-time against the Falcons as UWG’s head coach.

 

The Wolves will look to get back in the win column after three straight losses. UWG currently sits at 6-6 in the league and is tied for sixth as we enter the stretch run of the season.
