ROME, Ga. – The second outdoor meet of the season didn’t end in a second straight win for the UWG track and field team, but the Wolves did finish a solid third place with 93.5 points on Saturday at the Victor Icebreaker Duals at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.


Nya Moses headlined the day as she set a new school record in the hammer throw, besting her previous record with a toss of 45.76 on her way to a first place finish in the first hammer throw of the 2018 season.


Shorter took the team title at the meet with 141.5 points while Lee finished second with 140.5 points.



Along with the aforementioned Moses taking 10 points in the hammer toss, Caitlin Teknipp and Hannah West both got points for the Wolves in the hammer, placing fourth and sixth, respectively.


Moses also took sixth in the shotput while Teknipp took sixth in the javelin.



West Georgia’s pair of 4x100 relay teams took second and third place on Saturday as the team of Emani Collins, Andrea Foster, Kennedy Davis, and Makalah Cannon placed second with a time of 49.33. Elizabeth Folsome, China Amey, Dawn McCaskill, and Rolayo Roberts came in third, finishing just behind their teammates in a time of 49.64.


Emani Collins, Amina Saunders, Paige Berriochoa, and Dawn McCaskill ran in the 4x400m relay and finished third with a time of 4:10.28.



Andrea Foster and Paige Peterson took second and third in the triple jump as Foster bested Peterson’s jump by just .01 meters. Fosters jump of 11.01m got eight points for the Wolves while Peterson got six points with a jump of 11m.


It was a third place finish for China Amey in the long jump, as she put up a mark of 5.14 to grab six points for the Wolves. Trisan Haughton placed sixth in the long jump, leaping 5.1 meters.


Haughton took third place in the high jump with a top jump of 1.57m, tying with Alexis Alofuokhai, who also jumped 1.57m. The duo combined for 10 points for the cause.



The top finisher in the 100m dash for UWG was Dawn McCaskill, who placed 10th with a time of 12.65 seconds. Right behind her was Rolayo Roberts who finished 11th with a time of 12.73. Makalah Cannon was just behind that pair in 13th with a time of 12.78.


Emani Collins took an eighth place finish in the 200m dash, running a 26.31 second race. McCaskill also competed in the 200m dash and finished in 10th place.



Kennedy Davis was the top finisher in the 100m hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 15.68 seconds to grab four points for the cause. Davis also went on to finish fifth in the 400m hurdles, with a time of 1:09.01.


Pole Vault

Faith Moss took sixth place in the pole vault with a jump of 2.47m. The freshman grabbed 1.5 points for the team effort, and set a new school record in the pole vault in the process.
