CARROLLTON, Ga. – The 2018 softball season came to an end on Sunday as the UWG Wolves fell 9-0 to the AUM Warhawks at University Field.


The AUM pitching staff did their job, holding the Wolves to just six hits on the day, while their offense pounded out 13 hits to the cause. UWG ends their season at 27-25 overall while AUM finished 29-16.


Both teams had scoring chances in the second inning, but in the top half, Danielle Easterly got out of a bases loaded jam while AUM’s Chanel Newcomer pitched around two singles in the bottom half to get out of a two-on, one-out situation to keep it scoreless after two.


Auburn-Montgomery got on the board first with a three run third, scoring on three hits and a UWG error.


The Warhawks added four more in the fourth, using four hits and another UWG error to extend their lead to 7-0. AUM scored their final two runs of the game in the top of the seventh.


Madison Chambers was 3-for-3 on the day while Alley Taylor, Lexie Stohr, and Sydney Smith each had hits on the day. UWG used three pitchers on the day including seniors Danielle Easterly and Zoie LaVergne who ended their careers in the red and blue.
