ORLANDO, Fla. – The trip to Orlando ended on a sour note for the UWG Volleyball team as they wrapped up the 2018 South region Crossover with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Florida Southern.

The Wolves played tough in all three sets, with the widest margin coming in the opening set, at 25-20. West Georgia never led in the opening set, and the Mocs closed it out on a 3-0 run to take the opening set.

In the second set, West Georgia got out to an early advantage and led until a 4-0 run turned the tide and gave FSC a 14-13 lead. It was back-and-forth from that point until the Mocs closed out on a 3-0 run to claim the 25-22 victory in the second set.

West Georgia got behind early in the third set but fought their way back to tie it up at 22-22, but again a 3-0 run finished it out for Florida Southern as they would complete the sweep.

Aisha Ambrose led the UWG offense with nine kills while Kaylyn Buchanan chipped in with eight and Anjelina Webb and Niah Bruce with seven each.

Defensively, Kaylyn Buchanan led with 16 digs. Madi Fleming had 36 assists in the loss.

West Georgia wraps up the South Region Crossover with a 1-2 record and now sit at 11-10 on the season. UWG returns home on Tuesday night to host West Florida in a 6 p.m. match at The Coliseum.
