CARROLLTON, Ga. – For the first time since 2015, West Georgia’s soccer team has had a player to be named All-Gulf South Conference as Jazmine Santiago was named Second Team All-GSC on Monday.

Santiago led the team in goals scored with nine, was second on the team with four assists, totaling 22 points which ranks fifth all-time in a single-season at UWG.

The sophomore from Augusta also made UWG history when she became the second player to ever record multiple hat tricks and the first ever to record back-to-back hat tricks as she scored three against CBU and Union in consecutive games.

Her nine goals are tied for seventh most in the GSC, while her point total puts her in a fifth-place tie amongst league players.

It’s been three years since any UWG soccer player has garnered postseason honors from the GSC, as Santiago is the first All-Conference selection since 2015 when Cari Powell and Francessa Ellis were both second-team All-GSC.

Santiago has been instrumental in helping the Wolves reach the Gulf South Conference Tournament for the fourth straight season. West Georgia, who earned the sixth seed, will travel to Cleveland, Tennessee to take on Lee in the first round on Tuesday. Kickoff for that game is slated for 5 p.m. from the Lee Soccer Field.
