ATHENS, Ga. - The University of West Georgia men's basketball program began the Dave Moore era unofficially on Thursday evening in Athens, taking on the Georgia Bulldogs at Stegeman Coliseum, with the Bulldogs coming out on top 98-59 in exhibition play.

West Georgia came out of the gate cold in the first exhibition matchup of the 2018-19 season, as the Wolves shot just 18.9 percent from the field in the first half, including just 15.8 percent from three-point range. On the opposite side, Georgia shot 40 percent from the field, including 43 percent from three-point range to lead 44-25 at the half. 

In the second half, the Wolves picked up the pace, led by senior point guard Aren Ulmer and junior forward Gerald Blount. Midway through the second half, Ulmer and Blount reached double-figures in scoring. Preseason All-Gulf South Conference guard Marquill Smith was cold early in the game and moved into double-figures with just over four minutes left in the contest. 

West Georgia will open the 2018-19 season officially on Friday, November 9, taking on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in Cleveland, Tennessee.
