CARROLLTON, Ga. – Game four of the UWG women’s basketball season is set for tomorrow as the Wolves head to Fort Valley, Georgia for a non-conference showdown with the Fort Valley State Wildcats in a 6 p.m. contest.
West Georgia sits at 2-1 following last Friday night’s 68-36 win over Carver at The Coliseum. Tuesday’s opponent, Fort Valley is off to a tough 0-5 start to their season.
For the Wolves, Aysha Harris leads the offensive effort, averaging 10.0 points per game through the first three game of her senior season. In the last action, however, it was true freshman Zaria Bankston that led the offense with a career-high 15 points including a 3-for-3 performance from three-point range.
On the glass, West Georgia is currently led by senior A’Kia Harris who averages 7.7 rebounds per game for the Wolves.
It’s the second meeting in as many years between West Georgia and Fort Valley State as the two teams met last season in Carrollton, with the Wolves claiming a 76-52 victory in a game that saw Jayda Dooley drop 13 points and block seven shots.
Fort Valley’s leading scorer is Alicia Franklin as she enters tomorrow’s game scoring 16.8 points per game. In the game last season in Carrollton, Franklin scored a game-high 22 points.
A win on Tuesday would get the Wolves off to their best start since the 2014-15 season at 3-1. West Georgia began 2014-15 with a four-game win streak and went on to finish the season 19-11.
