CARROLLTON, Ga. – With the start of league play just days away, head women’s basketball coach Scott Groninger announced today the first two signings to the 2019 class.
The first two signed by the Wolves are both high school athletes, Lanee Edwards and Jailyn Shaw. Edwards is out of Southwest Dekalb High School in Decatur while Shaw comes to Carrollton from Carver High in Columbus.
“We’re thrilled to sign both Lanee and Jailyn in this early signing period,” said head coach Scott Groninger. “Lanee will bolster our backcourt, while Jailyn will be a key player in the paint for us in the years to come.”

Prepped at Southwest Dekalb High School for head coach Kathleen Richey Walton … helped team to a 17-13 record in 2017-18, including a 10-2 region record … reached the second round of the GHSA AAAAA State Tournament … scored 9.0 points per game as a sophomore … daughter of UWG Hall of Famer Lonnie Edwards

Prepped at Carver of Columbus for head coach Anson Hundley … helped team to a 29-2 record including a perfect 14-0 mark in region play … reached the Final Four of the GHSA AAAA State Championship … averaged a double-double as a junior, scoring 12.3 points and grabbing 13.0 rebounds per game … selected as a GACA All-Star, representing the South Team in the GACA North-South Junior Girls Showcase.
Edwards and Shaw still have their senior seasons to complete at their respective high schools. As for the Wolves, they will travel to Huntsville, Alabama for Thursday’s Gulf South Conference opener. That game will tip-off at 6:30 p.m.
