CARROLLTON, Ga. – Just four games into the 2018-19 basketball season, the UWG women’s squad is set to open their conference schedule on Thursday evening in Huntsville, Alabama as the Wolves take on the UAH Chargers at Spragins Hall at 6:30 p.m. EST.

West Georgia is 3-1 on the year as they open league play on the road, while UAH is 1-3 coming into Thursday’s contest.

Aysha Harris has hit 311 career free throws,

ranking third all-time at UWG.

Aysha Harris leads West Georgia in scoring, averaging 10.0 points per game, and is followed closely by A’Kia Harris who scores 9.0 per game. A’Kia is West Georgia’s leading rebounder, averaging 7.8 per game. For Aysha Harris, she is approaching 200 career assists as she has 192 in her career. But the senior is also approaching bigger career milestones as she has scored 842 career points.

In other statistics, Jayda Dooley leads the Wolves and the Gulf South Conference with a 1.5 blocks per game average.

For the Chargers, it’s Aryn Sanders who leads the Chargers with 19.8 points per game, but the junior guard did not play in UAH’s most recent game at Nova Southeastern. Katie Speegle nearly averages a double-double for UAH, scoring 13.8 points and grabbing 9.3 rebounds per game.

West Georgia has won four straight games over Alabama Huntsville including last season’s win at The Coliseum. The last UAH win over West Georgia came on December 2, 2015 in Huntsville as the Chargers topped UWG 58-54.

A win on Thursday would mark the third straight season the Wolves have won their conference opener. Last season, the Wolves defeated Shorter 61-47 to open GSC play, and went on to win each of the first four league competitions.

The Wolves will look to repeat that start on Thursday when they tip off at 6:30 p.m. from Spragins Hall. Links to follow via live stats and live video stream can be found below.
