Carrollton, GA – Seven University of West Georgia football standouts were named Friday as members of the 2018 D2CCA All-Super Region 2 Football Team. The Wolves placed five players on the all-region first team, while two more were chosen as second-team members.

Earning first-team berths were running back Devontae Jackson, linebacker Korie Rogers, safety Montrell Pardue, return specialist LaPerion Perry, and kicker Omar Cervantes. Also, offensive tackle Quinton Stanford and defensive end Chad Price were selected as second-team all-region performers.

Jackson, a senior from Marietta, continues to pile up honors for his brilliant career at UWG. The holder of many UWG all-time records, including for most rushing yards in school history, Jackson was earlier this month named All-Gulf South Conference for the fourth consecutive season. As a junior, he earned All-America honors and was became the first West Georgia player ever to be named a national finalist for Harlon Hill Trophy.

Representing the Wolves’ defense were three performers who are also no strangers to accolades. Rogers, a junior from Buford, Pardue, a senior from Clarksville, Tenn., and Price, a junior from Snellville, were all named to the All-GSC First Team earlier in November. So, too, was Stanford, a senior from Warner Robins.

Both of UWG’s all-region special teams honorees are freshmen. Perry, a native of LaGrange, topped the GSC in kickoff returns in 2018. Cervantes, who came to UWG from Fort Valley, was the GSC’s most accurate and prolific field goal kicker in 2018, including one of two 50-yard plus field goals kicked in the conference this season.

All five of UWG’s first team members of the 2018 D2CCA All-Super Region 2 Football Team will now advance to the ballot for the D2CCA All-America Team. Results of that voting will be announced in December.
