CARROLLTON, Ga. - January brings cold weather and a great environment for West Georgia basketball in The Coliseum, and this January brings five doubleheaders to the University of West Georgia, including a New Year's special on January 2 and a welcome back celebration on the first day of classes on January 7. 

With the lone exception of the opening game of the month on January 2, all UWG basketball doubleheaders are ticketed events. The cost for general admission is $10 and for reserved chairback seating, $15. Fans who purchase tickets online through the UWG Athletics Ticket Portal will receive a $2 discount on each ticket purchased until two hours before the start of the women's game. All UWG faculty and staff are admitted with a guest for free and each individual student is admitted free. For free admission, faculty, staff, and students must swipe a valid UWG ID.

The first UWG athletic event of the 2019 calendar year comes early, as the Wolves play host to Oakwood in a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. on January 2. At the door, UWG Athletics will be collecting Jackets and Jeans to help local shelters in providing cold-weather attire for those in need in the Carrollton community. Admission to both games in the doubleheader will be free on January 2.

West Georgia will host their first GSC matchup of the 2019 calendar year on Saturday, January 5, as the Wolves take on Mississippi College beginning at 2 p.m. UWG Athletics will continue the Jackets and Jeans promotion to help local shelters. 

Sunday, January 6
UWG Athletics and UWG Housing and Residence Life will team up for a Welcome Back Pep Rally for students outside of East Commons. The evening will feature music, food, and will be the first chance to see the Wolves Den, the winning name of the student section at basketball games. Free Wolves Den T-shirts courtesy of Ozier Apparel will be distributed to the first 50 students in attendance. 

Monday, January 7

With the return of students and the first day of classes brings a clash of Gulf South Conference foes as the Wolves play host to Delta State. The night will be the launch of the Wolves Den at UWG basketball, with all students in attendance receiving a free Wolves Den T-Shirt.

After a two-week road trip that includes a battle against nationally ranked Valdosta State in Valdosta, the Wolves return home to take on another solid opponent in the Union Bulldogs on Thursday, January 24.

The final game of the month brings head coach Dave Moore full circle in his coaching career, as Moore and the Wolves take on Christian Brothers, where Moore spent time as a graduate assistant. At halftime of both games, fans will be treated to a performance from the local TOT organization as kids showcase their dribbling skills on the floor at The Coliseum.
