Carrollton, GA – Jared Simmons has posted four consecutive double-figure scoring games since moving into the West Georgia Wolves’ starting lineup. Tuesday, the Gulf South Conference honored him for his productivity.

 

Simmons was named Tuesday as the GSC Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for his performance in last week’s pair of UWG victories. A 6-1 newcomer from Newington, Conn., Simmons was a key contributor in the Wolves’ wins over Shorter and Point.

 

In the Shorter game, Simmons posted 17 points, two assists, and had two steals in UWG’s 87-56 victory. Against Point, Simmons scored 11 points, pulled two rebounds, and had two assists as West Georgia prevailed, 92-59.

 

Since becoming a starter Simmons is averaging 13.3 points per game as West Georgia has rattled off a four-game win streak. During the streak Simmons is shooting an impressive 46.4% (13-of-28) from three-point range.

 

West Georgia returns to action Saturday in a key, GSC contest at Montevallo. Tip time is 5 p.m. from Trustmark Arena on the Montevallo campus in Alabama.
