CARROLLTON, Ga. – The final road game of the season is set for UWG women’s basketball as the Wolves travel to Rome, Georgia on Monday night for a 5:30 p.m. showdown with in-state rival Shorter.


The Wolves are coming off of a crushing defeat on the road last Thursday at Auburn Montgomery where the Wolves fell to 12-10 overall and 7-9 in the Gulf South Conference with a 44-42 loss to the Warhawks.


Now the Wolves head to Shorter for a rematch of an early season conference matchup where West Georgia came out on top with a 57-52 win at The Coliseum. Shorter is now 1-22 on the season and winless in the conference at 0-16.


In the loss at AUM, the offense struggled with just 42 points and shot 25.4 percent from the field, but senior Aysha Harris scored 17 and continues to lead the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game.


Shorter has three players averaging double-figures led by Raven Fair at 13.5 per game. Fair also averages 7.3 rebounds per game.


The last time UWG and Shorter met, Edley Drawhorn led with 11 points with Jessica Brown also finding double-figures with 10. Senior A’Kia Harris had 11 rebounds in that game. The senior is UWG’s leading rebounder this season at 7.3 rebounds per game.


Monday’s GSC matchup in Rome is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Winthrop-King Centre.
