CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the second-straight week, the West Georgia offense came alive in a midweek game, as the Wolves pounded the Georgia Southwestern pitching staff at Hurricane Stadium Tuesday in Americus, Ga. to the tune of a 15-3 victory in non-conference play.

Senior catcher Nick Poskey had his best day of the year in this one, falling just short the cycle with a 3-for-6 performance that included a home run, a double, and six RBI. On the mound, junior Tyler Garner returned to his form of a year ago, allowing five hits and two runs in seven innings of work. Garner struck out five on the day and surrendered no walks to pick up his first victory of the season.

Poskey and second baseman Brian Dansereau each had an RBI in the first inning, as each player drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the 2nd to give the Wolves an early 2-0 lead. Freshman Dylan Johnson then scored on a wild pitch to complete the scoring in the second.

The big inning for West Georgia came in the third, as Johnson drove home Dan Oberst and Jermond Williams on a two-RBI single to start the scoring. Freshman Brody Wortham added to the score, scoring on a passed ball for a six-run lead for the Wolves. Poskey then followed that with a two-run homer, and Oberst drove in two on a single later in the game, as the Wolves exited the top of the third with a commanding 10-0 advantage.

The Wolves continued to add to the lead, with Poskey driving in three of the final five runs of the game in two separate innings en route to the victory. Alex Holdbrooks and C.J. Fehribach each worked an inning in the final two to close out the win for the Wolves. UWG moves to 13-17 on the year with the victory.

West Georgia will be back in action at home this weekend, taking on the Lee Flames in a three-game Gulf South Conference series beginning Friday at 5 p.m. from Cole Field.
