MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – An 83rd minute Lincoln Memorial goal was the difference in Sunday’s game as the UWG soccer team fell 1-0 in the final game of the Bobcat Shootout in Milledgeville.
How It Happened
- Fourteenth-ranked Lincoln Memorial outshot West Georgia in the game, 22-8, putting ten on frame to UWG’s eight.
- The West Georgia defense held strong through much of the game, but in the 83rd minute, LMU got a goal from Graciela Palencia that proved to be the gamewinner for the Railsplitters.
- In goal, Jackie Donaldson saved nine shots, allowing just the one goal, while on the offensive half, Allsion Smithwick had three of UWG’s shots while Ryelyn Wells got off two shots.
- The loss puts West Georgia back at .500 on the year, sitting at 2-2 while Lincoln Memorial remains unbeaten at 4-0.
West Georgia returns home in seven days, hosting Georgia College at University Field at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.
