CARROLLTON, Ga. – After two straight weekends on the road, the UWG soccer team returns home for a big weekend at University Field, hosting Delta State on Friday at 5 p.m. and Mississippi College on Sunday.


The Wolves have lost two consecutive games and sit at 4-5-1 overall and 2-3 in Gulf South Conference play, and look to get back into the win column beginning with Friday’s matchup with Delta State.


Historically, West Georgia has dominated the series with the Lady Statesmen winning 13 of the 14 previous matchups, but Delta State has steadily improved over the years and comes into the weekend 3-3-4 overall and 3-2-1 in GSC play. DSU won their last outing 1-0 in double overtime against Union while the Wolves are coming off of a 3-2 loss to Valdosta State.


West Georgia has scored 14 goals on the year, and spread them out among 10 different goal scorers, led by Sadie Prince with three and Janaisia Smith with two. Jackie Donaldson has been in goal for every minute of every game this season. The junior keeper has made 62 saves which leads the Gulf South Conference.


On Sunday, the Wolves will host 6th-ranked Mississippi College at University Field. The Choctaws are 8-1 overall and 6-0 in GSC play and lead the league in scoring with 38 goals as a team. Katie Taylor leads MC in scoring with 10 goals, a number that ranks second in the Gulf South Conference. The Choctaws are outscoring opponents 38-7 behind goalkeeper Gabby Kayser.


Kickoff on Friday is set for 5 p.m. from University Field with Sunday’s game set to begin at 1 p.m. Links to follow via live stats and live video for both games can be found above.
