CARROLLTON, Ga. – The second year of the Stacey Balaam era of West Georgia Soccer is looming this fall as the 2018 fall schedule was released today, featuring 18 games including seven in the friendly confines of University Field.

 

It’ll be almost a month before the Wolves will get to play at home as UWG will open with six straight road games. The season begins with a trip to Winter Park, Florida as the Wolves will take on Rollins on Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. and then face Barry on Sunday, September 2 at 11 a.m.

 

After non-conference trips to Clayton State and Georgia College the Wolves open Gulf South Conference play on the road against Montevallo on Friday, September 14 at 6 p.m. Two days later, the Wolves take on Auburn-Montgomery on the road.

 

West Georgia will have no easy task in their home opener as the Wolves will welcome perennial power West Florida to Carrollton for conference match on Friday, September 21 at 5 p.m. That game begins a four-game home stand as the Wolves then host Spring Hill on that Sunday before hosting West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville over the following weekend.

 

On October 3, the Wolves dip out of GSC play to take on North Georgia in a 5 p.m. game in Dahlonega.

 

That weekend, the Blazers of Valdosta State come to town for a big rivalry game. Kickoff for that game is set for 1 p.m. on October 7.

 

After a trip to Mississippi College and Delta State, the Wolves come back to University Field for the final two home games of the season. The Wolves take on Christian Brothers in Carrollton on Friday, October 19 in a 5 p.m. kickoff. Senior Day is set for Sunday, October 21 as the Wolves host Union in a 1 p.m. contest.

 

West Georgia wraps up the regular season with trips to Lee and Shorter. The Wolves will be looking for a fourth consecutive trip to the Gulf South Conference Tournament. Admission for all home UWG soccer games is free.
