CARROLLTON, Ga. - The West Georgia Wolves concluded spring practice on Thursday evening at University Stadium with the Annual Spring Game, with the Blue Team defeating the White Team 10-3 on Ra-Lin Field.

The coaching staff divided the team up evenly into the Blue and White Teams for Thursday night's Spring Game, with head coach David Dean overseeing the entire game.

The first half was a defensive battle throughout the period, as each team managed a single field goal during the half. Sophomore running back Christian Royalston ran well on the opening drive, gaining 15 total yards on his first two carries of the Spring Game. Royalston rushed 79 times for 453 yards and four touchdowns as a true freshman in 2018, playing behind All-American Devontae Jackson.

Sophomore kicker Omar Cervantes, who was named an All-American in 2018, blasted a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter to give the White Team a 3-0 lead. As time expired in the first half, Jon Scifers booted a 26-yard field goal, sending the teams to halftime with a 3-3 score. Another standout in the period was junior receiver Rustin Suter, who caught four passes for 42 yards in the period.

After a solid period of defense in the first half with big hits from senior safety Chris Blackston and redshirt freshman safety Cameron Ramsey, the offense began to emerge in the second half. Redshirt freshman quarterback Brooks Norton scrambled on third down on the first drive of the half, finding redshirt freshman Jaeven West on the sideline for a 15-yard gain and a first down on the first drive of the half. Later in the period, redshirt freshman running back Chauncey Williams broke off the biggest rushing play of the game, a 26-yarder that put the blue team into the red zone.

Early in the fourth quarter, redshirt freshman quarterback Griffin Collier broke off a 16-yard touchdown run, finding the corner of the end zone to give the Blue Team a 10-3 advantage. Late in the final period, Norton looked to be engineering a scoring drive, but sophomore cornerback Blaine Gibson intercepted a pass down the field with 38 seconds left in the game to preserve the victory for the Blue Team.

Season tickets remain on sale, with the regular season set to begin on September 7 on the road at Catawba. The first home game of the year is on September 21 against Albany State, with kickoff for that game set for 7 p.m. at University Stadium.
