CARROLLTON, Ga. - UWG Volleyball reported for preseason camp Wednesday, and on Thursday, the Gulf South Conference released the annual Preseason Coaches Poll.

The West Georgia Volleyball team checked in at #7 in the 2019 Preseason Coach’s Poll. West Florida was picked as the preseason favorite with eleven out of twelve first-place votes.

The Wolves will lean heavily on Senior McKenna Wharton who led the team in kills (261), and digs (165) in 2018.  Along with Wharton is junior JoJo Webb who is coming off of a strong freshman campaign. Webb finished second behind Wharton in kills (179) and digs (72) in the 2018 season. The conference listed freshman middles Tierra White and Carrington Terrell as the top newcomers for the Wolves. Also new to the floor is Hannah Flack, who transferred to UWG last season, but was forced to sit a year before playing.

The Wolves’ 2019 season opens on September 6 at the UAH Classic in Huntsville, Alabama, but won’t hit the hardwood in the regular season at the Coliseum until the 17th. The first chance to see the 2019 Wolves in action will be on August 22 against Division III National Champion Emory at 6 p.m.
