CALERA, Ala. – One round into the 2019 golf season, and head coach Todd Selders can’t help but be pleased with the effort of his men’s team as the Wolves shot a three-over round of 287 and are tied with tournament host Montevallo for the lead at the Full Moon Invitational.

 

West Georgia was led by stellar play from a pair of sophomores in Rece Moore and Lucas Mota. Moore used four birdies and a bogey to finish with an opening round 68 at Timberline Golf Club and enters tomorrow tied for the individual lead.  Mota had four birdies and a pair of bogeys to come in with a 69 in the first round, good for a third place tie.

 

Another sophomore, Blake Kollin, also contributed to the team total with an opening round 73 and sits in 10th place. Freshman Jonathon Toftebrant finished with a 77 in his first collegiate round while another newcomer, Adam Park shot 79 in his first round of the year.

 

UWG is deadlocked with Montevallo for the team lead and both the Wolves and Falcons enjoy a three-stroke lead over Spring Hill.

 

The final round is set for tomorrow from Timberline Golf Club in Calera, Alabama.
