CARROLLTON, Ga. – Another postseason award rolled in this week for freshman shortstop Alley Taylor, as she was named Second Team D2CCA All-South Region.

The awards continue to pile on for Taylor, who has already been named NFCA All-Region, Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year, and First Team All-GSC. In 2018, she became the second player in West Georgia softball history to hit over .400 in a season, as she hit .401 as a freshman this year.

Her average led the team and ranked 11th in the GSC. Taylor was second on UWG’s squad with a 19 extra-base hits, going for 12 doubles, a pair of triples, and five home runs, which is also second on the team. Taylor was a key part of the offense not only with her bat, but her abilities on the base paths. She stole 33 bases in 37 attempts this season, setting a single-season school record.

Taylor is the second D2CCA All-Region player in as many years for the Wolves, and the second middle infielder as well, as former second baseman Sierra Stella was named D2CCA All-Region in 2017.
