OAKWOOD, Ga. – The UWG women’s cross country team was back in action for the third time this season on Saturday as they ran to a sixth place finish at the 5K UNG Invitational at the UNG-Gainesville campus.

Once again, as it has been each race this season, freshman Mackenzie Morse paced the Wolves, leading the pack with a 29th place finish and a time of 21:04, which shaved off 14 seconds from her time last week at the KSU race.

Alaina Burnside was the next Wolf across the finish line as she finished three spots and 21 seconds behind Morse as Burnside finished in 32nd place with a time of 21:25. Behind her was Alexis Smith who placed 35th with a time of 21:27.

In 49th place for the Wolves was Shelby Parsekian who finished with a time of 22:38 and a 49th place finish.

Amie Wimberly and Kimberly Dezwart were the final two to finish for West Georgia as Wimberly’s time of 23:09 was good for a 55th place finish while Dezwart was in 69th with a final time of 24:04.

Host North Georgia won the invitational, placing four in the top-10.

The Wolves are now off until September 30 when they head to Oxford, Ala. for the second time this season as they compete at Jacksonville State’s meet.
