West Georgia is coming off of a 4-1 start to the season last weekend, with one of those wins coming over Friday’s opponent Eckerd.
On Thursday, the Wolves will take on a Tampa squad who is 2-0 with a pair of wins over Warner. Offensively, West Georgia was led by Lexie Stohr last weekend who opened her 2018 campaign going 7-of-15 at the dish, driving in six runs which is tied for the team lead with Mallory Walker.
On Friday, West Georgia will take on Eckerd, the same team they played in the season opener. UWG won that game 9-3 on the back of Foote’s pitching and six different Wolves getting multi-hit games. Eckerd went on to finish the weekend 2-2, falling to Auburn Montgomery and earning wins over GSC foes West Alabama and third-ranked West Florida.
Crystal Garcia led Eckerd on opening weekend, hitting .467 with three RBI. Nikole Van Gennep earned the decision in the circle in all four games for the Tritons last weekend, pitching a total of 16.1 inning with a 3.43 earned run average to go with 10 strikeouts.
