CARROLLTON, Ga – The UWG Men's Cross Country started the 2018 season on a positive note this evening, as the Wolves took the team and individual titles at the UWG Season Opener on the new course on campus at West Georgia.

 

Solomon Komen stood out among the field, running his first race for West Georgia. Komen placed as the top individual with a time of 24:00.54, setting an 8k course record in the process. The win for Komen was the first individual win by a UWG runner since Thomas Adkins ran to a top finish in the UWG Home Opener in 2016.

 

Also ranking in the top five was West Georgia’s Isaiha Davis, finishing in third with a time of 25:27.28.

 

Placing six and seventh for West Georgia, respectively, were Thomas Adkins and David Walker. In tenth place was Jonah Negusse with a time of 27:04.13. Following shortly behind him, Andrew Ungashick clenched the eleventh spot,  finishing the race in 27:04.13. Parks Turner, in the 13th spot, finished the 8k in a time of 28:00.06, and Edival Muianga placed 16th, running a 31:26.58.

 

West Georgia accumulated a total of 27 points with an average race time of 25:51.46.

 

The Wolves are set to compete in their next race on September 15th in the Montevallo Invitational.
