Carrollton, GA – Five University of West Georgia basketball players have been honored for their academic accomplishments. Four UWG women’s players and one from the men’s team have been named to the 2018 Gulf South Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll.
Berths on the GSC Academic Honor Roll go to student-athletes who competed during the recently completed season, and who have maintained an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, or above, for their collegiate career. No voting takes place for honor roll distinction.
UWG’s women’s contingent is made up of four players who completed their junior seasons of eligibility in 2017-18. A’Kia Harris heads the list with a 3.18 GPA in her major of Health and Community Wellness. Jessica Brown earned her spot with a 3.14 GPA in Biology, Terrianna Cave claimed her spot with a 3.06 GPA in Sport Management, while Daisha Terry earned her spot with a 3.00 GPA in Sport Management.
One member of the UWG men’s team also earned a spot on the GSC Honor Roll. Freshman Greg James, a Management major, was honored after posting a GPA of 3.78.
Beyond that group, one player from each team would have been eligible for the GSC Honor Roll had they not been held of competition as a redshirt in the recently completed season. Men’s player Jordan Mount posted a GPA of 4.0, while women’s player Sarah Carter had a 3.0 GPA.
With UWG addition of five student-athletes, the Wolves’ program has produced a total of 55 members of the GSC Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 year. The Spring Academic Honor Roll will be announced in May.
