CARROLLTON, Ga. - Within the next week, five different UWG teams will be on campus in Carrollton as classes are set to begin for the University of West Georgia on August 14. As UWG Athletics closes out camp season 2019 on August 13, the Wolves will participate in the Welcome Back Blast on campus, giving fans and students the opportunity to meet, greet, take photos with and get autographs from the 2019-20 athletic teams.
The Welcome Back Blast is a way for students to celebrate the start of a great year with inflatables, games, music, giveaways, food, and end the night with Fireworks. Adding to that night this year will be the UWG Athletics station on the patio of the Campus Center. Athletes who will be on the field and court in the 2019-20 academic year will be on hand to take selfies and hand out the football, volleyball, and soccer posters for the 2019 fall season.
Head coach David Dean and UWG football reports on Saturday, followed by volleyball, soccer, and cross-country on Wednesday of next week. The first athletic event on campus this fall will be an exhibition match for head coach Jon Moseley and UWG volleyball against defending Division III national champion Emory on August 22 at 6 p.m. Head coach Stacey Balaam and the soccer program will be the first regular-season event on campus, as the Wolves take on North Georgia on September 7 at 2 p.m. Football will be on the road for the first two weeks of the season and will host Family and Friends night on September 21.
