COLUMBUS, Ga. – The UWG women’s golf team sits in fourth place after day one of the Lady Cougar Classic on Monday as the Wolves shot rounds of 322 and 324 at the Country Club of Columbus.


The day one 646 puts West Georgia 19 shots back of the 36-hole lead currently held by North Georgia who shot rounds of 316 and 319.


Franziska Bremm led West Georgia with an opening round 78 followed by a 76 in the second round. Bremm is tied for second after 36 holes and sits five shots back of the individual leader, Megan Sabol of North Georgia.


Joining Bremm in the top-10 is Maria Torres who shot rounds of 81 and 77 on Monday for a 158 total after 36 holes.


Jordan Daniel used rounds of 82 and 83 to finish the first day in a 17th place tie while Layne Carter begins the final day in 23rd place after shooting 81 and 88 in rounds one and two.


Young Harris sits in second place with a 36-hole total of 637 with USC-Beaufort in third at 638.


West Georgia will look to move up the leaderboard in tomorrow’s final round which is set for a 9 a.m. shotgun start due to rain in the forecast.
